Reconnecting/Reconectando-me

I've been through some dark period recently, and what's happening now is that I'm reconnecting myself with many things and people, inside and outside

Last month I bought a mobile phone. In this way I can reach my friends more easily. It was a part of a movement I'm trying to do in next months: to have a place of my own. A room of one's own, as Virginia Woolf would said.
This is something I begun some years ago. Now I have to do the rest of the changes needed, and most of all, find the job, that would allow me to stand for myself in this world. I work at the booksotre, but it's only part-time, and doesn't allow me to live by myself. I do a lot of things for RIMA and Hipólita Ediciones, but it's all adhonorem.

Meanwhile I'm reconnecting. It's strange cause I'm almost on-line all the time, but somehow I managed to hide, and what's been hurtful, I didn't speak to my friends in a long time.
I went to Encuentro Nacional de Mujeres in Córdoba, and met with so many good friends I didn't see in ages
And last week I could finally attend Marcha del Orgullo. Again I talked and shared this awesome experience with friends and after that we've been talking with Gabrielaa and it was again refreshing, reconnecting, funny, deep talking
Cause we share a lot, and we work together in RIMA, and we are on line a lot, have romantic relationships with girls, and we needed to have a talk about all these and evrything else that go through them, and go under, above or go through the core of those things.

And I really feel reconnected, and this is also amazing about RIMA, too.
and tomorrow I'll travel again to BA on my own. I'll talk in a lecture about RIMA, and meet some friends and colleagues, journalists and from the feminist movement. Great!

cine on line

A color
Es una producción de Women Make Movies
I first came across Rebecca Swan's extraordinary book Assume Nothing in the window display of a downtown bookshop. The book had a striking cover photograph of an androgynous woman's outstretched torso, leaning backwards over her intricately tattooed buttocks.

I sat in that shop, perched on a tiny stool, until I had examined all of Rebecca's stunning photographs and stories of alternative gender identities. As a filmmaker who has focused on issues of gender, sexuality, and media representation for several years, I knew I had to contact Rebecca immediately and propose that we collaborate on a film. I wanted to turn her stunning photographic portraits into "living" portraits.

To my delight, she agreed, and the result was Black and White, a documentary about intersex activist Mani Bruce Mitchell, a participant from Rebecca's book.

Mani tells her story of being born without a clear sex. For the first year of her life she was a boy. The doctors then re-diagnosed her gender identity, performed surgery, and she grew up as a girl. She found out about the switch accidentally, after decades of secrecy.

something for a change

Since the beginning of this year I met a lot of new friends with whom I talk in English, basically cause we share a lot in an online role-playing game known as popomundo
So now I decided to post here something in English, cause now we got to know many of us outside the game phrames.
Well we are in Springtime now in this part of the world, a season I particularly like a lot.
It means for me to get out from 'the hut', and enjoy open air again. And this year winter was one of the cruelest in the last decades, so I've been inside my house a lot, too much I'm afraid.
To begin with I live in a beautiful riverside city: Rosario in Santa Fe, Argentina. The river is the Paraná, one of the most important ones in the country and South America.
I have the luck to live a few blocks away form the river, from a huge monument, the Monumento a la Bandera, which is facing the river, and a beautiful park, Parque Urquiza, where I like to go for a walk, or enjoy sometime outdoors, or when I have time and I'm in the mood for it, do some jogging, too.
So these are my days of going to work at the bookstore, do some work at home, and try to go out alone, with friends, and enjoy Springtime, and like last night, attend a poetry reading at the University. I have the luck to listen to Mirta Rosenberg and Arturo Carrera. I've enjoyed both, and Arturo particularly read a series called "cuatro estaciones" (Four railway stations, a gameword in Spanish, 'estaciones' means 'seasons' and also railway or bus station) He revsited his childhood, as he have done in previous books, and he does it full of feelings, and leting the readers and listeners, like yesterday, be part of it.
